Was a very fun commission for a good friend and a fantastic horse woman. Cello is a bold, strong horse with scope for days. I pieced together reference photos from multiple images of him running cross country - which seems to be his happy place.

This is a good example of a sort of “painterly realism” which keeps the painterly brush strokes prevalent while refining important details to capture accurate expression of the horse. Many of my clients ask for this technique in their commissions and nothing makes me happier!
